Sheffield performance systems / 01
Blackwell's Builds builds esports gaming PCs in Sheffield for CS2, Valorant, Apex Legends, League of Legends, Fortnite and Overwatch 2. At 240Hz, every stutter costs focus, so we tune for stable frame times rather than a flattering average.
1% lows above your monitor's refresh rate, verified in-house.
Verified target board
Actual results depend on map, settings and monitor resolution.
Choose the display first / 02
Resolution changes the workload. Refresh rate changes the deadline. A high refresh rate gaming PC needs the CPU, GPU and memory to keep arriving before the next scan.
1080p / 240Hz
A sharp starting point for tactical shooters and fast arena play.
1080p / 360Hz
Built for players who can see and feel every missed frame.
1440p / 165Hz
More pixels with sensible headroom for mixed competitive and story gaming.
1440p / 240Hz
A demanding monitor pairing for serious high-refresh 1440p play.
A 1440p 240Hz build costs roughly twice a 1080p 240Hz system because the graphics workload rises sharply.
The parts that matter / 03
At 1080p, the CPU often sets the ceiling before the GPU does. We pick the platform around frame-time consistency, then validate every setting under sustained load.
Small delays stack up.
Ryzen 7 7800X3D suits high-FPS play with its large 3D V-Cache. The Intel Core i5-14600K is a strong alternative for high clock speed and flexible workloads.
We favour 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30, set XMP or EXPO, then check stability. Dual-channel configuration keeps the processor fed through long sessions.
Fast map loads start with a proper NVMe boot drive. We use PCIe 4.0 storage and skip slow SATA boot arrangements on performance builds.
A board with clean USB delivery and a capable VRM protects sustained boost clocks. That matters when practice runs for hours.

Build My Competitive EdgeValidation before handover / 05
We run two-hour real-game sessions, log temperatures and inspect frame-time behaviour. Windows power plans, background bloat, ReBAR and driver latency modes are tuned before the system leaves the bench.
Spikes create the hitch you feel when a fight starts.
A tighter trace keeps input response predictable.

Match the whole setup / 06
A 360Hz panel is wasted if the graphics card reaches 200 FPS. We can advise on monitors, DisplayPort cables and sync settings even when you buy the screen elsewhere.
G-Sync and FreeSync work best when the system stays inside a predictable frame-rate range. We tune the pairing rather than guessing from a peak benchmark.
1080p / 240Hz
Best for competitive settings and efficient frame delivery.
1080p / 360Hz
Gives demanding shooters the headroom a fast panel needs.
1440p / 165Hz
A balanced choice for sharp detail and high refresh play.
1440p / 240Hz
For players who want high pixel density without giving up speed.
For players who notice the delay / 07
