Custom gaming PC builds Sheffield
Blackwell's Builds builds gaming computers around the way you play. We handle component selection, UK sourcing, assembly, tuning and handover for first-time gamers, students, families and enthusiasts moving on from an ageing rig.
Built in Sheffield. Tested before it leaves the bench.
The process
You won't be handed a pile of part numbers and told to choose. We make the decisions visible, explain the trade-offs, then test the finished machine properly.
We record the games you play, target resolution, monitor refresh rate, creative software and future upgrade plans. A first gaming PC starts with your habits.
A rough budget and a list of games is enough. Bring your monitor details if you have them.
You receive two sensible options for each performance tier, with clear reasons for the CPU, GPU, memory, storage, board, case and cooler choices.
We check socket, clearance, power draw, airflow, memory support and connector requirements before anything is ordered.
Parts come through vetted UK suppliers. We track warranties and flag stock changes early, since GPU and memory prices can move quickly.
Yes. Customer-supplied parts are inspected and tested first. Used parts are only included when you specifically request a budget build.
The system is assembled on an ESD-safe bench. Cables are routed for clean access, sensible airflow and easier future upgrades.
Most builds take several working days once all parts arrive. Supplier delays are discussed before they affect the plan.
We configure BIOS settings, firmware, drivers and XMP or EXPO memory profiles, then check fan curves and boot behaviour.
It is the low-level setup that helps the board recognise hardware, apply safe memory settings and manage temperatures.
The machine runs extended CPU, GPU, memory and storage tests. We also validate it against real games and check temperatures under load.
Short tests can miss heat, instability or memory errors. Long testing gives us useful evidence before handover.
You receive the finished system, warranty information, key settings and practical guidance for keeping it cool and easy to upgrade.
Yes. We explain ports, display connections, updates and the settings that matter for your games.
Parts with a paper trail
We avoid grey imports and questionable listings. Each component is checked against the build plan, supplier terms and warranty route before it reaches the bench.

We look for proper UK warranty support, clear stock status and a traceable invoice.
We inspect customer-supplied hardware before deciding whether it is suitable for the system.
If a part changes, you see the reason and approve the replacement before we proceed.
Starting points
These are useful starting points, not rigid packages. Prices change with component availability and your chosen performance target. There are no hidden build fees.

Plain-English guide
You don't need to know any of this. We explain every decision, and you can ask as many questions as you need.
Have a no-pressure conversationThe processor. It handles game logic, applications and system instructions.
The graphics card. It draws the game world and has the biggest effect on frame rate.
Short-term working space for games and applications running at the same time.
Fast storage for the operating system, games and personal files.
Lighting is a choice. It should never take money away from the graphics card.
Power supplies need the right capacity, connectors and protection for the whole system.
Socket, firmware, memory support and case size all have to agree.
Make the choice clearly
The right option depends on your time, confidence and tolerance for compromise. Here is the practical difference.
| Consideration | Custom build | Prebuilt | Self-build |
|---|---|---|---|
| Component choice | Chosen around your games | Often fixed bundles | Fully controlled |
| Build quality | Bench assembled and checked | Varies by seller | Depends on your experience |
| Thermal tuning | Fan curves and stress testing | Basic factory settings | You handle the testing |
| Cable management | Routed for airflow and access | Can be inconsistent | Your own work |
| Time investment | Consultation to handover | Shorter buying process | Research, assembly and troubleshooting |
| Support | One local point of contact | Seller support route | You diagnose the fault |
