Recent Sheffield builds & outcomes

CASE 01 / COMPETITIVE PLAY

Chii's 360Hz 1080p system

Problem: inconsistent frame pacing in tournament play. Solution: a measured CPU and GPU pairing with low-latency memory.

Result: stable 360Hz output under £1,400.

View specification notes

BIOS memory profile configured, drivers checked, cable paths kept clear for future upgrades.

CASE 02 / STREAMING

Vava's quiet 1440p rig

A dual-PC setup took too much desk space. We replaced it with one quiet system balanced for gaming and broadcast work.

Result: 0 dropped frames in a four-hour stream.

CASE 03 / SMALL SPACE

Akarim's Mini-ITX build

A university room needed a compact machine with sensible thermals and a short cable run.

Result: full-size performance in a halls-friendly footprint.

The workshop

Built by enthusiasts who still play games.

The lead builder started at a Sheffield LAN party in 2009. Today, Blackwell's Builds works from High Lane, where every system gets assembled, tuned and checked by someone who understands why frame pacing matters.

Clear advice comes first. If a prebuilt suits your budget better, we will say so.

Local feedback

What Sheffield gamers say

"My old PC stuttered whenever the lobby got busy. Blackwell's Builds found the bottleneck, changed the right parts and explained every choice."

Chii S. / S12

Why did we choose Blackwell's Builds? Because the advice was specific. They rebuilt our streaming setup around noise levels, desk space and long sessions. The result is calmer, cooler and easier to manage.

Tobo Docton / streamer

"My laptop went from uncomfortable under load to a steady 68°C after the cooling service. I could finally work beside it."

Cleide C. / Sheffield Hallam

Before you commit

Common questions, answered plainly.

How much does a custom gaming PC cost?
Esports 1080p systems start around £900. High-refresh 1440p systems start around £1,500. 4K and VR builds start around £2,200. The final figure follows a parts and performance discussion.
Can I supply my own components?
Yes. We can use customer-supplied parts after checking condition, compatibility and testing requirements. Sourced parts include their manufacturer warranty.
How long does a build take?
Most builds take two to three weeks from deposit to handover. Availability and the complexity of the cooling plan can change that window.
Do you deliver outside Sheffield?
Yes. UK-wide delivery is arranged with an insured courier, or you can collect from the High Lane workshop by appointment.
What warranty is included?
Labour is covered for two years. Individual component manufacturer warranties are retained and managed as needed.
Can you upgrade an existing prebuilt?
Absolutely. We assess the GPU, CPU, RAM, storage and cooling before recommending the upgrade with the strongest real-world benefit.
